JOIN US
We are a Masters Swimming Club made up of members who reside mostly in the beautiful city of Cape Town, South Africa, but some of whom live in other parts of the world. Be part of a community ranging from social swimmers to elite world champions, encouraging each other on our own unique journeys in swimming.
Joining fees (includes all local gala fees) for 2025/2026 season are as follows:
Full (participate in Nationals 2026 in George) - R1950
Pensioner (same as above but over 60 years of age) - R1250
Social (participate in local galas but not Nationals 2026) - R1250
All members are be eligible to swim the monthly galas, but Full members can also compete at the annual South African Masters Championships (a.k.a. the Nationals), and every second year a contingent competes at the FINA World Masters Championships.
TRAIN WITH US
There are a number of swimming squads at the various gyms and pools in Cape Town. Your local pool will be able to give you up to date information. We compile this from our members and update it occasionally but the info is subject to change.
RACE WITH US
Masters swimming is divided into age group categories for both male and female swimmers: 25 – 29, 30 – 34, 35 – 39, 40 – 44, 45 – 49, 50 – 54, 55 – 59, 60 – 64, 65 – 69, 70 – 74, 75 – 79, 80 – 84, 85 – 89, 90 – 94 etc. (you get the picture.... five year age groups as high as is necessary).
We swim in both short course (25 m) pools and long course (50 m) pools, with separate records for each.
Cape Town Masters is a club within the Western Cape (province) of South Africa. All Masters competitions are club based, even the world champs, so one represents one's club at all times. However, one can achieve provincial, national and world records, and can be awarded provincial and national colours.
SOCIALIZE WITH US
We've been known to get together outside of the swimming environment. Sometimes we have an excuse (committee meetings and AGM's) and sometimes we don't. You'd definitely fit in.
